Investing in the next 50+ years of serving and mission in the parish
Many have found a welcoming home at Westwood Church through the serving and mission of the church community over the last half century, but the building itself is in disrepair. The toilet facilities are dilapidated, having been slowly deteriorating for years, the disabled toilet in particular is not even fit-for-use, and the whole entrance area is dim and unwelcoming. In effect, the building says the opposite to visitors and the community to the generous and welcoming heart of the congregation. What started as appeal to redo the toilets has therefore grown to a vision to fit the physical building of the church for the ongoing service to the community and sharing of the Good News about Jesus of the church community.
In order to refit the toilets to a high standard (giving extra consideration to the needs of those with disabilities or young children) and open up the interior (by installing a prominent roof light, removing unnecessary doors and instead placing glass doors at the entrance) we need to raise £100,000.
So far, the generosity of the congregation has raised over £36,000. As we celebrate this provision, we also feel that God is guiding us to something bigger. Rather than applying to grant-making bodies or going back to the congregation, we feel He is calling us to give everyone who has benefited from Westwood Church in the past 50+ years an opportunity to invest in the next 50+ years of the church by giving to these works.
